I talk about not having an artist block, why I paint mobile home parks, the influence of flowers on my life and so much more. What a thrill to see my work in this national magazine with a million reach!Painter of the Palisades Reflects on Her Home, Her Work
“The series is as much about the homes as painting itself,” Murrow told her audience at a recent meeting of the Western Manufactured Housing Communities Association (WMA). Murrow said curiosity and a good challenge are motivation toward making art. The loss of place that shaped her, that inspired her, is devastating.

With only minutes to evacuate, these survivors share the sentimental pieces they managed to protect, and what they wished they didn’t leave behind. A collector and friend grabs the painting she commissioned me to make of her son surfing in Santa Barbara, California on the way out the door. Everything else is gone.

"I approach my work with a restless desire to describe my definition of home. As I look across a nearby mobile home park, the rooftops, swaying palm trees, singing birds and dog walkers, all communicate how I feel about where I come from. It is the sense of community and simplicity with a wide open view of the ocean that has inspired me to paint the subject matter for almost 2 decades. A tight knit coastal community who share common ground is familiar territory. Much like the uniformed education I received, there is a sameness present in the materials and shapes of these prefabricated structures that echo my experience- In order to get to know a place or more importantly, a person, we must go inside."

"I have consistently painted an unlikely subject matter, mobile home parks. The series is as much about the homes as painting itself. I find the subject matter keeps me curious and challenged as an artist. I am very attracted to the idea of community and the sameness of these particular structures. They are a metaphorical celebration of human connectivity. To get to know someone beyond the surface, we need to go inside: a place where we are all decorated differently by the experiences we have. Luckily people like what I paint and buy my work. Before the pandemic, I was blessed with several large commissions that launched me into becoming a full time artist. I have been working out of a studio in Westwood Village for over 10 years. Coming up April 2023 I have been granted a month long residency at the Vermont Studio Center."
